[Mael-list] Top of the Hot Pants!!!

Hi Ella,
Indiscreet brought a few indiscretions to British tv. Those shorts burned
their way into many a young impressionable person's memory in 1975 <pauses
for a sip of cold water ... dammit, better make it a whole shower>, but
Ron's blacking up (as in Al Jolson) for "Looks, Looks, Looks" was one of the
more inexplicable exercises in what not to wear. Trinny and Susannah, or
Mica and the other one, where were you when we needed you ... several
billion years ago. Is nothing sacred?
Regards,
derek

I've been having problems getting online (two words to UK readers should
explain all: talk talk) so haven't looked at the list all week, but I'm
astounded that no one on this side of the pond has written anything about
last night's TOTP2 ...
Is everyone still recovering from the sight of our Russell, barefoot and
prancing about in hot pants? (For those who missed it, it was Get in the
Swing from '75 ... and there were also some great Ron moments ... There was
also a mention in the text onscreen, of the BBC "allegedly" having banned
"**** Around" ...)
At least it was very very entertaining, and not cringingly embarrassing
like Hayzee Fantasee (can't be bothered to look up correct spelling!) or Leo
Sayer, or bordering on the obscene, like Def Leppard, all also in the same
line-up...
