The 'Island Masters' cds of the mid-70's albums are no longer in
print, so for newer fans that don't have those with the extra tracks
these are a good deal, and it's good to see them available again. For
us old-timers though, live versions of Barbecutie, Lost and Found,
and an interview are not enough to get me to fork out for another
copy of Kimono, e.g. I would have preferred the unreleased tracks on
a separate album (The Hell Collection vol 2?), mainly because I think
Kimono, Propaganda, and Indiscreet are perfect as they are, and I
think the listening experience of Kimono My House in particular is
hurt by tacking on Barbecutie and Lost and Found after the stunning
curtain closer Equator (I'm referring to the Island Masters version).
What I would really like to see is Introducing released on CD, as
well as the Halfnelson demos along with some of the earlier stuff
like Cigarettes & Politics and Computer Girl.
Still, we can't complain- the stuff they have released has provided
us Sparks fans with a disproportionate amount of joy compared the
that of non-Sparks fans : )

So, I see Sparks are re-releasing their old albums once more on CD.
I've just been on 101cd.com and found the mid-70's albums. They all
have the original albums' tracks but with different extras. Some of
these are "Live at Fairfield Hall" whilst Big Beat has Confusion
(previously unreleased) and Looks Aren't Everything (previously
unreleased).

Now call me an old cynic but why would I want to purchase CDs that I
already have just for a couple of live bonus tracks?

Why not just release 1 album of the extras we don't already have?

I for one won't be going out to buy an album when I already have 80%
of the tracks on the original CD release.

What does everyone else think?
