[Mael-list] Rarities

It's a tricky question Gordon. I have Introducing on vinyl, in red,
and obtained a vinyl to cd rip of it from somebody else. But I just
bought the 'first time on cd' official release of the album, which
also seems to be a vinyl to cd rip. To be honest, I think the
official release is a bit better in the low end, but the unofficial
one I got had a fabulous printed cd- much nicer than the (yawn)
yellow cd officially released.
Maybe a bigger question is if it is ethical to expect you to pay for
something every time it is released in a new format? I bought
Introducing on vinyl, and I bought it on cd- am I a sucker? I could
have just downloaded it and justified myself by saying 'I already own
it'. But, it just seemed right to pay for it.
As for the Heaven and Hell collections, I seriously doubt they will
ever be released again, but I could load both into my computer and
send you a single cd that has all the material that hasn't been
officially released on another cd at one time or another. Sparks
don't make any money off the resale market at places like Gemm dot
com, but you can find most of what you need at sites like that, if
you have to own everything.
Sometimes you just have to say no- they have re-re-released most of
the Island records on cd, same as the ones released on Island a few
years ago but with a couple of live tracks added on. I have the
original vinyl of all those albums, both English imports and domestic
(only domestic for Big Beat), and the Island remastered cds, and I
will not be buying the new versions for the bonus live tracks- but if
anybody wants to send the live tracks to me. . . I feel I've paid
enough already.
