Folk, I've said it before and I say it again: the fans of Tangerine Dream set
up a tree, with the band's permission, with remastered, good versions of the
available bootleg material and shared it by FTP. The other way of doing it is
of course file sharing, torrenting, on legendary sites like www.dimeadozen.org
(there is at least one Sparks show ticking there at the moment). But, and I
stress this as I have before, this is only for bootleg material, not pirated
stuff, not even B-sides of 7" singles long out of print in Belgium...
The third alternativ is to do like King Crimson, Peter Gabriel and others have
done: the artist selling live material on their own sites, by subscription of
direct sales. If the Dynamic Duo would do that, I would stand first in line to
buy. It's really amazing in todays marketplace and with sales of manufactured
CDs declining, that not more artists use this way of making revenue and make
the fans happy.
Lossless, of course. You can always do MP3s for your own personal pleasure (if
that really is the right word when it comes to MP3 at whatever bitrate), but
when sharing you always use the best there is. I've got the Kimono My House
concert in London (Morrissey's Meltdown) on MP3, for example, but that's only
because I've not come across a better recording so far (and the recording in
itself is really crappy, unfortunately).
As always, no offence intended though some of you always prefer it the other
way. Still hoping to catch at least one of the 21, but which one to choose? The
first one? Angst? Terminal Jive? Indiscreet (I'd love to se a SQ on stage with
Ron&Russ!)?
