Again, being devil's advocate, I think we sometimes don't appreciate that Sparks is not generating barrels full of cash every day, and everyone associated with them still must eat and pay the electric bill. There's no Beatlemania following the Maels around (although they are worthy of it). Doing things with a practical sense of economics is what allows us to continue to hear scintillating new music from the band, and to see them still performing great concerts. Without these measures, do we really think they'd still be in business, so to speak? I hail management's creative efforts to keep the music before us. With apologies to Don McLean, the day the music dies will be a sad day indeed for all of us.

Ho hum.... This is bringing on a feeling of Sparks management doing
everything 'on the cheap'.
The fact that support bands are "responsible for their own expenses"
(potentially
travelling very long distances and therefore also presumably playing for
free)
to get the honour of doing 45 minutes on the same stage as Sparks, stopped
me for putting my own band in for that.
Sparks will be at the same venue for most of the run of shows, with only a
few
times they are potentially going to have to move their gear out on the
nights off.
Of course if the hall isn't open, the gear can stay put. This means the crew
costs
will be minimal.
Some nights are sold out and I am sure the whole run will be well attended.
So the support bands are probably donating services for free and now the
group want
sponsorship on top of that.
No substitute for raking in the LLLLL, eh?
I will limit my expenditure to the new album when that appears.
Cheers,
Ian
