Lyell - You beat me to it.
I was going to suggest the pub upstairs from the venue, I went there on Sunday 
or lunch and it pretty reasonable, relaxed atmosphere. 
I'll probably be there Sundays/Wednesday afternoons as the kick out time in 
&B's and hotels are early and I can lounge on the sofa.

 Spent part of the day going to the Sparks exhibit. Nicely
 laid out (can't say it didn't look a little like my
 apartment.) Watched some neat videos.
 
 One warning - quite a walk from the 'nearest' tube
 station in the East End. I think I ran into Rodney Trotter!
